As we evolved into ANZCHOG, we grew into a leading national research organisation that bridges the gap between laboratory research and bedside care. We collaborate with a complex network of hospitals and research institutes across Australia and New Zealand to help improve outcomes for children with cancer.
From our origins as the ACCSG to our current role as a key partner in the National Childhood, Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Roadmap, our history is defined by a relentless drive to improve survival rates and the long-term quality of life for our youngest patients.
For over three decades, the Australia and New Zealand Children’s Haematology/Oncology Group (ANZCHOG) has served as the peak professional body for pediatric oncology and haematology.
Our story began in 1986, when we were established as the Australian Children’s Cancer Study Group (ACCSG). This initial collective of dedicated clinicians and researchers laid the foundation for what would become a unified national effort to improve the lives of children and adolescents facing cancer.
As the expert body on childhood cancer and blood disease, ANZCHOG strives to enable the true potential of the Australian and New Zealand care and research effort.
We work collaboratively with our broad multi-disciplinary membership, national and international stakeholders, and through engagement of consumers to develop research and care priorities.
Our disease, discipline and special interest groups shape research priorities and support the development of strong clinical studies.Our committees provide scientific review, governance, education and cross sector collaboration.
The National Trials Centre coordinates the essential operational work including ethics and governance, study start up, data management and site support so clinical trials are run safely, efficiently and consistently across the country.
