Game-changing funding announcement for children’s cancer research in Western Australia

Friday 23 August 2024

We are thrilled for ANZCHOG’s very own Chair, Nick Gottardo, and the amazing teams at Perth Children’s Hospital and Telethon Kids Institute for securing game-changing funding for children’s cancer research and treatments in Western Australia.

In one of Western Australia’s biggest-ever philanthropic gifts, the Stan Perron Charitable Foundation will contribute $135.5 million over the next decade to the multi-partner collaboration, which will build on the significant work already being undertaken by Perth Children’s Hospital and Telethon Kids Institute.

What a difference this support will make!

Building on the incredible work already being undertaken at Telethon Kids and Perth Children’s Hospital, this funding will move the dial for children with cancer in WA and beyond.

As we all know, Nick is an inspirational and collaborative leader, working tirelessly at so many levels for better outcomes for children with cancer. ANZCHOG is delighted that Nick and the team will now be able to lead more clinical trials and improved treatments with a long-term vision, beyond the usual short-term grant cycles. Congratulations Nick and the whole WA team, we are excited to continue our support and collaboration and can’t wait to see the impact you make!
