Monash Children’s Cancer Biobank, VIC

The Monash Children’s Cancer Biobank was established in July 2011 by Dr Peter Downie and Prof Neil Watkins. This joint initiative of the Monash Children’s Hospital Cancer Centre and Hudson Institute of Medical Research is a subsidiary of the Monash Biobank overseen by the Monash Health’s Pathology Department. To date, the biobank has collected more than 200 tissue specimens, 340 blood products and 374 bone marrow specimens from >236 patients. More recently, the biobank capabilities have been expanded to include development and cryopreservation of living/renewable patient tumour models for collaborative research opportunities.
